Azurite makes for an interesting collector's gem.  It is soft and not easy to facet, despite the fact that specimens are often gemmy and the color is quite lovely.  When done right by an experienced cutter, you can indeed end up with a fine stone like this - largely so dark as to appear black except when hit with transmitted light.  Then you see it, that unmistakable deep Azurite blue that is absolutely unique. These are typically quite small and we can’t recall having a larger or cleaner example than this one. A rare treasure indeed.
