We almost never see these nowadays - faceted Rhodochrosite from THE Canadian gem deposit. For variety, rarity and quality there was simply nothing like the Mt. St. Hilaire locale; true in both the world of collector gems and specimens. Rhodochrosite from MSH has a slightly different bodycolor than most of the Colorado material with just a touch more orange and less pink. And, of course, stones from here are much smaller as a general rule. This is a lovely custom cut gem, it does have a few veils (again, common here) but these are well hidden. A lovely rarity from a very hard to acquire locality.
