It has been over a decade now since the discovery of Kyanite in a truly unexpected color in Tanzania. There was never a large production and the material is inherently difficult - hard to cut and usually quite heavily included. This fine gem is quite a successful one, as well as being probably the only pear shape as well. Not clean of course, but with relatively minimal distractions and with a nice brilliance, mostly from reflections off the cleavage planes. Consistent and fine color.
