A magnificent example of this rarely faceted gem material. Wulfenite is a lead mineral that has exceedingly high optical properties so, if done correctly, faceted gems are capable of dazzling brilliance and impressive dispersion. This one hails from outside the usual deposits for facet material (Arizona, Mexico, Tsumeb) and has a very fine and unusual orangish-yellow bodycolor. The color is nicely consistent and the stone looks great with flashes of dispersion from all angles. Gorgeous custom US cutting and a fine high polish. A very fine Wulfenite.

Long a favorite of gem collectors, faceted Wulfenite is a sight to behold. If done right, the optical properties of the mineral, particularly the visible dispersion, is very impressive. On occasion, this is paired with some very fine bodycolors - such is the case with these fine yellows from Tsumeb. Great polish, fine cutting and very dispersive, this is a lovely collector's piece. Difficult to facet and so we never are able to offer many of these, let alone in such a fine color.

We thought this rough had the potential to cut a stone that was a bit more lemon-yellow than the norm and we have to say that we were not disappointed! Very yellow indeed, the touch of orangish modifier gives the color a nice intensity. Extremely dispersive, as these are, with wonderful spectral flashes at all angles. Considerably scarcer than orange material, we wish we had some more of these. A lovely rarity.
