As obscure and unusual a US gem material that you are likely to find. From the fairly unknown deposits of Orthoclase in North Carolina comes this extremely large faceted example of true US Moonstone. The color is actually quite distinctive - a light grey that looks great on such a large gem; it would likely get washed out in a smaller stone. The adularescent flash is almost Sunstone like in that it seems to originate in tiny platelets throughout the stone. That very cool silvery Moonstone flash is perfectly centered across the table. Great cutting and a very impressive size, this is a conversation-starting US rarity.
