With the recent elevated interest in another tektite material, Moldavite, we decided why not? So, fresh from our best cutter comes this classic piece of ‘Libyan Desert Glass’, a familiar staple at rock, mineral and meteorite shows. The material is has been found across a wide area of the southern Egyptian desert for nearly a century; it is almost always this pale straw color and has the classic series of inclusions (the cristobalite spheres are fantastic!), bubbles and visible flow structure. While the actual origin of the rough remains debated (some feel it was created by a terrestrial event vs a meteorite impact), it remains popular and quite available.
