A quite fascinating, and relatively large, US Fluorite. Great size and cutting, and the color is a wonderful blue - far scarcer than some of the other colors found in the Illinois deposits. What drew us to this stone is the myriad of inclusions - particularly the veils that align themselves with the octahedral cleavage planes. The gentle crisscrossing of these can be seen throughout most of the stone. Something only a gemologist could love perhaps!
