Malaya is an intermediate Garnet species that is defined both by its refractive index range and its color. The name derives from its inability to fit into the standard Garnet classification - its most frequent translation is 'outcast'. This is, unfortunately, a very overused term in the marketplace as actual examples that deserve the Malaya name are quite scarce. This lovely stone is a gorgeous example, completely clean and finely cut. Gorgeous reddish-orange color, very rich - the tone and brilliance are a perfect pair to the flawless precision cutting.
