A very fine and larger cab from one of the most documented of historic gem deposits. Called Zabargad in Egypt (it was Topazus to Pliny), the limited deposit here has been producing gems since about 300 BCE. These are rare now - we were fortunate to acquire these some years ago from a French jewelers unused old stock. A great size (we didn’t get many 2+ carat stones) and color, the gem has a lovely presence despite some of the usual veil type inclusions. Great historic gem for the collection or even to use in a great piece of jewelry with a wonderful story.
