One of the great ancient gem materials, true untreated old Persian Turquoise is both legendary and difficult to obtain in the modern era. These mines produced for millennia a color that came to be the benchmark for all subsequent Turquoise. From an old collection, we found one gloriously labelled piece with the color that makes it easy to see why this is so revered. In contrast to modern Turquoise, this one is untreated (no ‘stabilization’) and has a fine little bit of matrix on the underside. .
