The AGL brief only tells part of the story of this magnificent stone. ‘Color shift’ is rather inadequate here as the stone is actually and entirely a bi-color; the purple and violet hues are actually both present at the same time, under the same conditions. You can absolutely parse out the individual colors while examing the stone; we have never seen quite this effect done to quite this level of quality.
The face-up mixing of color is remarkable - it is akin to viewing a color change-only gem under multiple lighting conditions concurrently. It seems the bluish-violet is near the center while most of the purple surrounds the oval outline. Gorgeous cutting, perfectly clean, unheated, and 2+ carats are all assets here, before we even get to discussing the absolutely unique color behavior. A special Sapphire indeed.
