A quite unusual combination of colors on this unique Tourmaline. Grey is color we rarely see at all in the species, Tourmaline doesn’t seem to like being that desaturated; as part of a unusual bi-color stone it is even more interesting. The greyish-purple (the split is 50/50) is also quite attractive, a nice partner in saturation and tone for the grey. The stone is quite large (0ver 1.5 inches long) and nicely cut - there are a few light inclusions that seem overly apparent in the photos unfortunately. Rectangles like this tend to reflect and getting the lighting right generally means showing the stone at less than its best clarity-wise. In-hand, the gem is quite lovely and the small inclusions, mostly at the purple end, are not distracting. We knew it would be a bear to photograph but was simply too interesting to pass up.
