This fascinating variety famously exhibits a color change under UV exposure, a property technically called tenebresence. Burmese stones like this one seem to always outpace the Afghan ones - this one is reasonably transparent as well so we had it fully faceted. A stunning change from colorless/white to deep purple - the change takes about one minute under shortwave UV to reach maximum, the Sugilite-like color then gradually fading back to colorless. Longwave UV response (far right) is a chalky blue-white. A fine example.
