The corundum deposit at Winza, Tanzania has been quite interesting from a gem collector's perspective. Of course, there have been some stunning Rubies and some respectable blue Sapphire - both notable in that they are largely unheated. One of the more unique finds though have been some strongly zoned pieces that have both blue and red together - essentially Ruby and Sapphire together in one stone. These are exceptionally uncommon from other deposits, despite fancy Sapphire's penchant for color zoning and make for very interesting conversation pieces. Unquestionably one of the best of these gems that we have seen - well divided with blue on both ends and an excellent and perfectly proportioned cut, which is extremely unusual for these. Fascinating and superb!
