12.76 ct. Italian Yellow Barite
Color: Medium Dark Yellow
Clarity: Eye Clean
Origin: Sardinia, Italy
Measurements: 13.1 mm
A magnificent gem Barite of the highest quality. Not only is the color outstanding (the historic locality is well known for this shade but no longer produces rough), the cutting is extraordinary. It is a competition level cut done by an Italian gentleman, who in the great tradition of Italian artists, will share his secrets with no one! In fact, he goes so far as to make his own faceting materials and polishing compounds. The resulting level of polish is unprecedented for a softer material like Barite - visually the stone would fool you into believing it was Danburite or Topaz, a harder material on which a higher polish is easier to attain.
A lovely approachable size, together with the sheer perfection of the cutting, this gem is likely one of the and best examples you are likely to see. We are told that there is little or no remaining rough and that these special Barites are now coming to an end.
