Rhodizite is a rare mineral that is found at only a few localities worldwide; gem grade stones come really only out of Madagascar and it is rare in the marketplace. We seldom come across larger, fine examples and were quite pleased to have found this lovely gem. The color is a pleasant faint yellow and the cutting is excellent - all the better to set off Rhodizite's relatively high optical properties. Rhodizite has a near adamantine luster and is very hard (8 on the Moh's scale) for such a rare stone. A very fine example and now very difficult to source, particularly in weights above the one carat benchmark.
