A large and fine example of the rarest form of gem Peridot - that which originates in the stony-iron meteorites known as pallasites. This particular fall, the Jepara meteorite, is well known as one of the few that has been capable of producing gem rough. As you might imagine, these have had quite a life and it is exceedingly rare for any gemmy sections to remain intact. The cutting and color here are superb, far above what is normal for a stone that is priced so high on a per-carat basis. Jepara stones are capable of being remarkably clean ranking them as consistently among the finest of Pallasite stones. As an additional bonus, this stone features a single, perfectly intact Magnetite crystal under the table - an exceptionally rare occurrence in these that dates back to the formation of the pallasite itself. Excellent cut and polish and a great size. These are easily distinguished from terrestrial stones by means of trace element analysis, so this one has a full lab report from GIT.
