The mineral Vlasovite is inherently quite rare, being discovered in Russia in 1961 - the single occurrence of gem grade examples is at Sheffield Lake in Quebec. The Vlasovite forms in concert with the much more common Eudialyte and, since the initial find here, very few stones have been cut. A Gems & Gemology article from as recently as 2012 mentions the largest faceted example as 0.52 ct. and we personally have had only sub-carat stones in this very best quality. From the way the mineral forms, the rough is highly fractured and gemmy segments are small.
Flawless cutting and bright, the stone is a superb size for this quality and is absolutely worthy of the finest Canadian collection.
