A very fine gem from a special locality. French Sapphires are storied gems indeed, for true connoisseurs the connotation holds something akin to Yogo Gulch, though in reality the French stones are infinitely rarer. Known since the medieval period, they continue to be avidly sought after. The colors are rarely ideal, lots of greens and very dark blues - gems are decidedly small as a general rule. This fantastic little gem represents the best of this historic find - a very respectable, clean 2/3 carat gem, one with a very attractive and sought-after bodycolor ( take a look at that pleochroism!). A fine little gem indeed.
