The quintessentially rare species, Poudretteite was named for the family who operated at the Mont Saint-Hilaire deposit, where it was first discovered. In the last decade there have been a trickle of gems coming from the area around Mogok; these range from colorless to pink and smallish stones are the norm. Gems with a strong bodycolor are quite unusual and we only rarely have the chance to offer clean examples of any size. The present example is superb, absolutely the best and most saturated color you could hope for in this species. Great stone.
