Always in demand and particularly in respectable sizes and fine colors - one of the best known and most unique of the gemstones of the United States. Deserving special mention is the color here - it is superb and not our typical offering. We usually always prefer as true a red as possible in these, but this special example caught our eye. With a considerable purple modifier and an intense saturation the resulting gem has a kind of hot magenta appearance. Most unusual to see this color and saturation together. The in-hand effect is quite impressive and rather enchanting. We are very careful when selecting these as lighter colors or shallow cuts can really rob a stone of its visual appeal. Far more interesting and appealing than a ‘roval’ or shallow rectangle. Fine color indeed.
