No doubt, one of the most obscure and difficult to source gem materials in the world. Essentially the top prize for a collector of gems from the United Stated, the only known occurrence for gem Zektzerite lies at a rugged elevation in Washington. Crystals are exceptionally rare, even here at their type locality, so there have never been more than a few faceted examples of this material in the decades since its discovery.
This lovely stone is an excellent example of the species - the color is the classic and attractive 'peachy' pink. Gemmy sections of Zektzerite crystals are quite uncommon, so any facet potential is typically limited to extremely small stones. The cutting is exceptionally well done, particularly for a stone with this degree of rarity. As is typical there are a series of light veils, but these are fairly low relief and do not distract - no dark inclusions or fractures whatsoever. The supreme collector's piece - to quote Sinkankas (Gemstones of North America), it is surely "among the rarest of all gems".
