1.44 ct. Poudretteite

Color:  Medium Pink Clarity:  Eye Clean to Slightly Included
Origin:  Burma Cut:  Triangle
Treatments:  None Measurements:  10.1 x 7.4mm

This superb gem is the largest and finest of this very rare gem species that we have been able to procure.   No doubt, the size is exceptional for the material, but more so because of the fine clarity and excellent color.  The vast majority of these are so light in color as to appear virtually colorless - there is no mistaking the fine pink hue in this gem.  The cutting is excellent with no windowing and the only visible inclusions are two thin needles confined to one corner of the stone.  Whenever we are ever offered the chance to acquire a piece of this material, it is typically under 0.10 ct. in weight, so the significance of a fine example of this size cannot be overstated.  And that gorgeous color!

The number of great looking, larger Poudretteites to become available in the last several years can almost literally be counted in the single digits.  Those that break the carat mark and typically at least moderately included and are rarely as 'gemmy' as the present example.  Poudretteites only very occasionally trickle out of mining efforts in Burma; without question one of the rarest of the rare in the gem world.
