19.36 ct. Jackson's Crossroads Amethyst

Color:  Medium Dark Slightly Violetish-Purple Clarity:  Eye Clean
Origin:  Jackson's Crossroads, Wilkes Co., Georgia Cut:  Cushion Brilliant
Treatments:  None Measurements:  17.4mm

While we have had the pleasure of offering a number of the fine gems from this US locality in the past, we have never had a stone approach the size or importance of this piece.  It is a spectacular piece with a rich deep color, flawless clarity and precision cutting.  The well known 'blue flash' that characterizes gems from this find is strong and very noticeable.

Gems from Jackson's Crossroads have become quite popular due not only to the distinct flash, but also the overall crisp bodycolor that a violetish modifier will impart.  Add to this the fact that they are subjected to no heat, like so much Amethyst in the market, and the desirability goes up further.  Large stones from this deposit have always been problematic as the rough tends to be strongly zoned - finding an evenly color piece (see the second photo) of this size is truly a task.  Beautiful, collection quality gem.
