18.36 ct. Bi-Color Kyanite Cabochon

Perhaps it would be more correct to call this gem a "bi-tonal" Kyanite; both sides are actually the same hue, with one side simply having a darker tone.  The look is certainly that of a bi-color; zoning in Kyanite tends to be less controlled and unattractive, here it is striking and very well defined.  Well polished and nearly clean Kyanite cabochons of this size are quite scarce, they rarely approach the "gemmy" quality of this example.  Great looking and very sizable piece.
