3.18 ct. Kornerupine

Kornerupine is a classic gem species - fine examples have been coming from Sri Lanka for centuries.  The vast majority of these are a deep brownish-green, a shade that approaches an 'evergreen' appearance.  Much scarcer are the Sri Lankan stones that are pleasantly light toned and have a golden yellow bodycolor.  Only occasionally do source some larger, useable sizes in this color range and this one is just excellent.  Completely loupe clean, cull oval portuguese cutting and an excellent size.  Nothing to say against this one!
