Probably the single most esoteric gem we have offered. Yes, that is right, this is faceted salt. We actually have seen this done once or twice before, but never as successfully as in this stone. The color is distinctive and quite lovely and the cutting and polish are remarkable for a water soluble gem material with a hardness of 2.
There is actually a reasonable flash of brilliance to the stone - quite remarkable. The photo is a bit unfair as it gives the stone a slight cloudiness that is not apparent in person. Needless to say, we were not going to have this just setting out for an extended period to try and get the perfect shot, so this one will have to suffice. For the collector interested in US gem materials, this is as nice an example as could be obtained. Extremely well done for a near impossible material.
