5.36 ct. Quartz with Square Radiation 'Stain'
Perhaps you have seen specimens of colorless Quartz that have the brown 'spots' that were created by the mineral's proximity to a radioactive material at some point in the past. These make interesting conversation pieces and can often be found at rock and gem shows. What makes this piece so interesting (other than it has been polished and is jewelry ready!) is that the stain itself is noticeably square. This is highly unusual as nearly all of these spots are round-ish in shape. One of just two or three examples we have seen. Intriguing. $10 / carat - $53 total |
