This gem is a classic example of Amethyst from this acclaimed mine just outside of the Phoenix metro area.  The color is very saturated and the cutting is excellent.  There is some color-zoning, but the face-up appearance of the stone is not affected.  These Amethysts are some of the most attractive gems currently being mined in the US.
